Accessibility
Built to be read by everyone.
Last updated · June 1, 2026
PatentBrief aims to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technology. We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Our target
We design and build against WCAG 2.1 AA as our standard. This is a self-assessment — we have not yet commissioned a formal third-party audit — but accessibility is checked as part of our regular development, including automated testing and manual review.
What we've done
- Semantic HTML with a single, ordered heading structure on every page.
- A "skip to content" link and a visible keyboard focus state throughout.
- Text and interface colors checked for WCAG AA contrast, including on dark sections.
- Form fields with programmatic labels, and images with descriptive alternative text.
- Respect for the "reduced motion" system setting on animated elements.
- Responsive layouts that work from large desktop down to small mobile screens.
Known limitations
A few areas are still being improved — for example, some interactive data visualizations and the 3D hero animation are decorative and may not convey information to assistive technology; the underlying facts are always available as text and tables elsewhere on the same page. If you hit a barrier anywhere, please tell us.
